Hazem Zureiqat
Hazem Zureiqat is the Business Development Director at Engicon, a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm operating in the Middle East with its headquarters in Amman, Jordan. Hazem provides strategic direction, guidance, and oversight to all aspects of Engicon’s business development and marketing activities in its core markets of operation and beyond. He is responsible for maintaining and growing key client relationships and leading sales efforts in the various sectors in which Engicon provides services—from water and transport to buildings and environmental studies.
In addition to this role, Hazem is a transport specialist at Engicon and has been directly involved in several large-scale transport projects in Jordan and the region, including public transport and highway design projects, traffic studies, and studies on smart cities and electric mobility. Hazem is active in the national transportation scene in Jordan. He has written extensively and given a number of public talks and interviews on issues related to public transport and urban mobility
A graduate of MIT and Macalester College, Hazem's areas of expertise lie in transportation engineering, planning, modeling, and economics. He previously worked at the Greater Amman Municipality as the Head of the Transportation Economics and Modeling Division.
Hazem is also a co-founder of Sowt (a leading Arabic podcasting startup), a board advisor and former President of the MIT Arab Alumni Association, and a founding member of Ma'an Nasel, a public transport advocacy campaign in Jordan.
