The Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO) and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday to enhance the accessibility of IDECO’s services for persons with disabilities. The agreement reflects IDECO’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive environment that meets the needs of all customers.

The MoU was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al Hussein, President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and Eng. Bashar Al-Tamimi, General Manager of IDECO.
During the signing ceremony, His Royal Highness commended IDECO’s distinguished performance and its adoption of international best practices in developing internal systems. He praised the company’s commitment to excellence through rigorous self-evaluation processes aimed at improving service quality for all customers, including persons with disabilities. These efforts, His Royal Highness noted, contributed to IDECO winning the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in the Private Sector.
Eng. Al-Tamimi affirmed that the MoU embodies IDECO’s strong sense of social responsibility and its commitment to enhancing the inclusivity of its services. He added that IDECO continues to upgrade its administrative, technical, and infrastructure environments to ensure that persons with disabilities can access its services independently and without barriers — in line with its vision of delivering smart, sustainable, and high-quality services that meet stakeholder expectations.

The MoU aims to update IDECO’s technical and administrative systems to ensure universal access to services for persons with disabilities. It also provides for staff training on effective and rights-based communication with persons with disabilities.
In addition, the agreement calls for developing IDECO’s internal policies to promote equal opportunities and inclusion, as well as adapting the company’s facilities in compliance with the Jordanian Building Code for Persons with Disabilities.
His Royal Highness emphasized that this initiative sets an example for other sectors in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities. He added that such steps strengthen IDECO’s standing and reflect its dedication to service improvement and to fostering a cultural shift toward inclusion.
