Prince Mired meets ministers of higher education and institutional development


His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al-Hussein, President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), held two separate virtual meetings, with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad Abu Qdais, and the Minister of Institutional Development Dr. Rab'a Al-Ajarmah.
A statement issued by HCD said today, that His Highness discussed with Dr. Qdais, the frameworks for cooperation and the steps that HCD wishes to implement directly with institutions of higher education in coordination with the ministry, in particular adopting the accessibility requirements for persons with disabilities, within the criteria for accreditation of educational institutions.
The meeting discussed partnerships with universities, with the aim of making their facilities accessible, and gradually transferring the provision of Sign language interpreters to universities via conditions and mechanisms that ensure the sustainability and quality of this service.
On his part, Abu Qdais stressed the ministry's readiness to coordinate work and efforts to ensure the implementation of these goals quickly and smoothly, during the coming period.
In addition, H.H. discussed with Dr. Al-Ajarmah ways to support the work of HCD, enhance its performance and provide it with specialized technical expertise and effective cadres.
From her part, Al-Ajarmah confirmed the ministry's readiness to provide full knowledge-based assistance and technical support through programs to develop institutional capacities and enhance coordination between HCD and the various executive bodies with regard to strengthening the capacities of cadres and institutional performance.
