Prince Mired meets BRT officials


HRH Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al-Hussein, president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) met with project managers and site engineers of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) at the Greater Amman Municipality.


HRH stressed on the importance of coordinated efforts in the implementation of accessibility requirements for persons with disabilities, and the need to involve persons with disabilities and their organizations in decision-making processes to meet the access and usability requirements for all, people with and without disabilities.

HCD Secretary-General, Muhannad Alazzeh, underscored the need for implementing the provisions of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. 20 for the Year 2017, which includes provisions relating to accessibility in its comprehensive sense, taking into consideration the Building Code Requirements for Persons with Disabilities in all aspects and stages of design and construction of the BRT project .


The expert on the Building Code and BRT project consultant at the Royal Scientific Society, Rawan Al-Qudah, presented a presentation an overview on the accessibility requirements within the BRT project.
