Our Council

The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was established by the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. (31) for the year 2007 as the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities. Law 31/2007 was repealed, by virtue by17, which was instituted in May 2018, with the organization adopting a new name: The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD). It is a public institution headed by His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al-Hussein.

A society in which people with disabilities have a decent and sustainable life that will grant them effective participation based on equity and equality

 

Mission

Policy-making, planning, coordination, follow-up, and support, rt for all activities that serve Persons with Disabilities through the adoption of participatory management, wise governance, accountability, and trans,parency.

 

President of the Council 

His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al- Hussein, President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 

His Royal Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al-Hussein earned his BA degree from Tufts University in 1987, then his MA degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1995, specializing in International Relations/Strategic Studies. He continued his education at Cambridge University, England, where he received an M.Phil degree in Historical Studies in 1998. In addition, HRH Prince Mired attended the British Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1990 and served for several years in the Jordanian Armed Forces. 

Appointed by Royal Decree on 21 April 2014, HRH Prince Mired now serves as President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), succeeding his father, HRH Prince Raad Bin Zeid, Chief Chamberlain. In July 2017, His Royal Highness was appointed as President of the Jordan Sports Federation for the Handicapped/the Jordan Paralympic Committee.
